How Do I Change the Voice on My iPhone’s Google Maps?

There are no longer any days when navigating an unfamiliar town or driving a road trip requires the use of paper maps. Instead, your phone will direct you to your destination using a combination of GPS, mobile data, and WiFi to get you there faster.

While there is no navigation app that is perfect for everyone, Google Maps comes extremely close. It is the default navigation app for Android and the most popular navigation app for iOS, and it’s easy to see why.

Unfortunately, iPhone users will be unable to change the voice of the Google Maps navigation app from within the app. Obtaining the same result within the iPhone’s settings, on the other hand, is relatively simple.

For those using an iPad or iPhone (iOS) device, the following steps will help you change the Google Maps voice:

1. Launch the Settings application from the Home screen. After that, select the General tab from the drop-down menu.

2. Select the Language & Region tab from the “General” section of the page.

3. Depending on your device, select either iPhone or iPad Language from the dropdown menu.

4. Select a language or a combination of languages and dialects (for example, Australian English). Make use of the search bar at the top of the page to quickly locate the language of your preference.

5. If you decide to switch to a different language, the device will notify you. The “Change to…” button should be pressed.

Start Google Maps and play around with your new language and dialect settings. Once you’ve selected a destination, click Go to begin receiving voice instructions.
