Xiaomi has announced a number of 5G devices, including the 11T and 11T Pro

Tech Digest was on hand for the live launch of Xiaomi's new 5G-enabled smartphones, which took place at the prestigious BAFTA venue in London and was attended by representatives from the company.

And while you've probably never heard of, or only vaguely heard of, the brand Xiaomi – pronounced shau-mee – it is, in fact, the world's second-largest mobile phone manufacturer and the largest in Europe, according to the company.

Essentially, two new phones were announced: the Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro, as well as a new version of the Xiaomi 11 Lite that includes 5G connectivity.

The 11T Pro is Xiaomi's first smartphone to be released in the global market with the company's proprietary 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge technology, which the company claims can charge the device to 100 percent in just 17 minutes. This is accomplished through the use of technologies such as dual charge pumps, dual-cell battery structures, MTW, graphene application on Li-ion batteries, and micro-fluidics (Mi-FC).

Among the other features are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and a triple camera system that includes a 108MP wide angle lens, 2x telemacro lens, and a 120° ultra-wide angle lens. The smartphone also has computational filmography capabilities, including AI Cinema modes that can be activated with a single click, 8K recording, and HDR10+, which allows users to capture footage using the same smart ISO technology found in digital cameras.

It has a number of eye care features to prevent users from experiencing eye strain. These include True Display, which adjusts the color temperature automatically based on the surrounding environment, and Reading Mode 3.0, which is designed to reduce eye strain while reading. The Dolby Vision technology and dedicated dual speakers with sound designed by Harman Kardon are also included.

The Xiaomi 11T, like the Pro version, has a triple camera setup with a 108MP high-resolution wide-angle lens, a 120° ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2x telemacro camera lens. AI cinema modes include Time Freeze, Magic Zoom, and audio zoom, in which the sound of the object fades in and out as the zoom moves in and out. According to Xiaomi, the 5000mAh battery and 67W wired turbocharging allow the battery to be fully recharged in 36 minutes, according to the company.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro and Xiaomi 11T will be available in three attractive colors in the United Kingdom: Meteorite Gray, Moonlight White, and Celestial Blue. The Xiaomi 11T Pro will be available for pre-order starting on September 24th, with official sales beginning on October 1st. Prices start at £599 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration, with an early bird discount of £549 available for orders placed before September 26th. There's also an 8GB+256GB model available for £649.
