How To Use WhatsApp On A Desktop Or Laptop Computer

WhatsApp is a massively popular free messaging service with a global user base of more than 2 billion. While most people use WhatsApp on their smartphones, you can also use it on a desktop or laptop computer. If you know, you'll be away from your phone for a long period of time and need to send a quick message or simply want to stay connected with your friends and family while you work on a laptop, using WhatsApp on your computer can be a great option.

In this guide, we'll demonstrate how to use WhatsApp Web, a web application that enables you to quickly and easily install WhatsApp on your desktop or laptop, regardless of the operating system.

For all platforms: Use the WhatsApp Web app

The WhatsApp Web app is the quickest and most versatile way to use WhatsApp on a computer. WhatsApp Web does not require any downloaded software and can be accessed through most browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Firefox.

Step 1: Open your preferred browser and navigate to the WhatsApp Web website

Navigate to the WhatsApp Web website using your preferred browser. As you can see, it includes a QR code. This code will be required later to connect your phone to WhatsApp Web.

Step 2: On your phone, open the WhatsApp mobile app and select WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp is available on both Android and iOS smartphones. If your OS is Android, open WhatsApp and then tap the three vertical dots menu icon in the screen while still on the Chats tab. For iOS, tap the Settings gear icon.

Afterward, compatible with both Android and iOS devices: Select WhatsApp Web from the menu that appears.

For Android users, tap the teal OK button at the bottom of the screen. You may be asked to grant WhatsApp access to the camera on your phone: Continue — you may be prompted to answer additional permissions questions to give access. The screen of your phone should now resemble a QR code scanner.

For iOS users, tap the Scan QR code option, and the app will request access to your camera. Accept, and a QR code scanner should appear on the screen for the next step.

Step 3: Next step is for you to scan the QR code on your computer with your phone to connect to WhatsApp Web

Return to your laptop to access the WhatsApp Web website. To reload a QR code for your phone scanner, you may need to click on Click to Reload QR Code. If you intend to frequently use WhatsApp Web on a specific laptop or desktop computer, click on the box that is next to Keep Me Signed In.

Now, use your phone's QR code scanner to scan the WhatsApp Web QR code.

Step 4: At this point, you can begin using WhatsApp on your laptop or desktop

After scanning the QR code with your phone, the WhatsApp Web app should open your browser and display your contacts and recent conversations. To initiate a new chat, click the Message Bubble icon on the left side of the screen. To access your settings, edit your profile, create rooms or groups, or log out, click on the Three Dots icon. Also, if this is your first time using WhatsApp Web, you can turn on new message notifications by clicking Turn On Desktop Notifications on the left side of your screen.
