Windows 10 Will Be Making the Use of Webcam Safer
It seems like Windows 10 could soon get a latest feature that will make the using of your webcam more secure, with Microsoft now testing a feature that will let you know when your camera is in use – and also will tell you which apps are using it.
When your webcam is in use either by any app, an icon will appear in the taskbar and will be alerting you. If you hover over the icon, a list will then appear showing you all the apps that are currently making use of your webcam.
Windows 10 Web Cam Features
This feature will be similar to how you’re alerted in Windows 10 when your microphone is being used. As Windows Latest reports, the feature is apparently being tested in the early builds of Windows 10X, but it’s also expected to come to the normal regular Windows 10 as well.
Having alert that your webcam is being used is a really important feature these days, especially as many of us than ever are now working from home and also participating in multiple video calls every day.
When you are been reminded that your camera is still on and broadcasting can avoid so many things including any potential embarrassments. This latest feature could also alert you if a malicious or an unknown app had turned on your webcam without you knowing.
Due to the security and privacy implications, then, we hope that Microsoft will bring this feature to Windows 10 as soon as possible. Although some webcams can alert you that they are in use with an LED light, but it can be easily missed, and it won’t even inform you of the apps that are using it.
