Einsteinium element is a unique element with the symbol Es and atomic number 99. As one of the actinide series, it is the seventh transuranic element. Einsteinium element was found as a component of the debris of the first hydrogen bomb explosion in 1952, and named after Albert Einstein.

The increase in radioactivity and scarcity of Einsteinium isotopes have precluded this element from receiving the same attention as its preceding neighbors within the actinide series, the bonding, electronic structure and chemical properties of which are assumed to be between those of the transition metals and the main use of Einsteinium element is to create heavier elements, including mendelevium.
