Agile Methodology which is now known as Agile Software Development illustrates a set of principles for software development whereby requirements and solutions develop through the joint effort of self-organizing cross-functional teams. It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, and nonstop improvement, and it promotes fast and flexible response to change.

“Agile Development” is an umbrella term for several iterative and incremental software development methodologies. The term agile was made known by the Agile Manifest. This explains four principles for managers of software development projects. These principles defend the definition and continuing evolution of many software development methods.

The majority of agile-based software development frameworks laid emphasis on a short development iteration period which produces a stakeholder-visible change as regularly as every few weeks. Two of the most well known agile-based software development frameworks are Scrum and Kanban. Other known agile methodologies are Extreme Programming (XP), Crystal, Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), Lean Development, and Feature-Driven Development (FDD).

Agile development methodology offers chances to assess the direction of a project all the way through the development lifecycle. This is accomplished via regular rhythms of work, which is known as sprints or iterations, at the end of which teams must show a likely shippable product increase. Agile methodology is depicted as “iterative” and “incremental” by focusing on the repetition of abbreviated work cycles as well as the functional product they yield.

In waterfall, development teams only have a option to get each phase of a project correctly. In an agile model, every aspect of development such as requirements, design, etc. is repeatedly reviewed throughout the lifecycle. The idea is in the wake of Agile model, in which everyone including the business side remained involved and informed in the development process, signified a thoughtful change in both the culture and a company's capability to get superior software to market more swiftly.
