Have you ever experience the annoying Facebook auto-playing videos feature that automatically plays videos you are not interested to watch and end up consuming the data you want to manage? Do you remember the days when Facebook videos only played when you clicked on them? In case you want to go back to that age, you just have to click on a few hidden settings to stop the auto-play madness feature.

Auto-playing videos are sometimes annoying because you may not be interested in the video or maybe you don’t want that video to start playing in front of everyone. The data-wasting is even worst because you may not want to burn up that data on a video you didn’t even really want to watch. So it is understandable if you really want to get rid of the feature.

So in this article, we’re going to show you how to do that on Facebook’s mobile apps and then gradually move onto the web browsers.

How to Disable Auto-Play Video Feature on Mobile Devices

You need to head over to the settings menu on Facebook app if you want to disable the auto-playing video feature on Facebook’s mobile applications. In this tutorial, we’ll be using iOS; however it is still the same steps and options on both iOS and Android.

So launch the Facebook app and select the menu icon.

Then select “Settings” option in the menu displayed.

Now tap on “Account Settings” in the pop up menu.

Then tap on “Videos and Photos” from the Account Settings menu.

Then select “Autoplay” option in the “Videos and Photos” menu.

From there you can choose the settings between always playing regardless of the network or only auto-playing on Wi-Fi, and never. Then select “Never Autoplay Videos” option if you don’t want it to play at all.

How to Disable Auto-Play Video Feature on the Desktop Web Browser

If you are the type that often use the web browser to access your Facebook account as well, you can use the guide below and use some few seconds to get rid it on the browser too.

Open your computer web browser and head over to Facebook.com.

Then Log into your Facebook account if you are not logged in on it already.

Then click on the menu button at the upper right corner.

Then click on “Settings”.

Then click on “Videos” at the bottom of the left navigation pane in the settings menu.

Then select the drop down menu next to “Auto-Play Videos” in the videos settings menu and toggle it to “Off”.

With that, Facebook videos will stop playing automatically.
