One of the best customizing feature on Windows 10 is the ability to choose from a variety of colors for customizing your Windows 10, taskbar, menus and desktop. You can also decide to use the option that automatically change your Windows 10 taskbar, tiles, desk and menus color depending on your desktop background color.

But you’re still limited to a bright background. So in case you’re trying to work at night, and of course these blinding colors can make it more difficult to see your screen.

So in case you want customize Windows 10 to dark theme, then you'll have to go to the Registry which you'll use to set up this cool tweak. Note: You have to put this in your mind that editing the Registry can be tricky and risky if you’re not careful enough, so just follow these steps closely.

So press Windows Key + R to open the Run window and enter "regedit".

Then navigate to the below location on Regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Themes > Personalize

And in case you don’t have a Personalize folder there, you can create one by right-clicking Themes and choosing New > Key and then name it Personalize to do this.

Then right-click on Personalize and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

So name it to "AppsUseLightTheme". Then set its value to 0.

Now, head to this key location and repeat the same thing you did earlier in this location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Themes > Personalize

Now log out of your account and log in back, and then check the Settings app, your desktop, windows explorer and other locations to see the dark theme. So in case it’s too dark for you, you can just go back to these locations and change their values to 1.

Actually this feature will be easier to access in the approaching Windows 10 Anniversary update, so if you don’t feel tweaking the the Registry, you can just wait till it launches at the beginning of August.
