Are you a great user of Windows 8? If yes, then am very sure you will be fond of using the Windows 8 search box located at the left side of the screen. But unfortunately, after upgrading to Windows 10 it has been removed due to changes and reconstruction. The search box is now located at the bottom side of the screen which now works with Cortana.

Well if you still want to get back the Windows 8 search box on your Windows 10, then you are in the right place. However, this is just a simple tutorial on how to get Windows 8 search box on windows 10.


Right click on Desktop and select New

Now click on Shortcut

Then copy the below code inside the provided text box

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe -sta {C90FB8CA-3295-4462-A721-2935E83694BA}

Then click on Next

Now type any name you want it to be called. For instance "Windows 8 Search Box"

Then tap on Finish.

You can now run it to see how it looks like.

Now follow the below steps to launch the search box with a keyboard shortcut.

Right click on the created icon shortcut.

Then click on properties.

By default you will be directed to the shortcut tab and if not, click on the shortcut tab.

Then click the text box beside the "Shortcut key". Then press any alphabet you want to use as the shortcut key. By default, Ctrl + Alt key is already added all you need to do is to any alphabet like S or Q. If you enter any alphabet then the Ctrl + Alt key will be added automatically to the alphabet entered. Example Ctrl + Alt + S, Ctrl + Alt + Q and so on.

The click on OK
