What is HTML?
HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language can be defined as a set of markup tags used for interpretation for web documents. HTML documents are described by HTML tags, Each HTML tag describes different document content.

EXAMPLES

  • The DOCTYPE describe the document type to be HTML
  • The text in between <html> and </html> depicts an HTML document
  • The text in between <head> and </head> provides information about the document
  • The text in between <title> and </title> depicts a title for the document
  • The text in between <body> and </body> depicts the visible page content
  • The text in between <p> and </p> depicts a paragraph
  • The text in between <h1> and </h1> depicts a heading

Tags

HTML tags are mark-up tags surrounded by angle brackets:
<tagname>content</tagname> - 
The start tag is called the opening tag. The end tag is called the closing tag.
  • HTML tags are in pairs like <a> and </a>, The first tag in a single pair is called the start tag, the second tag is called end tag, The end tag is written like the start tag, but with a slash before the tag name.
