The presumably upcoming HTC 2016 Nexus is going to run on Android N out of the box and sport a 3D Touch display, according to the most recent rumor.

The latest Android version has yet to roll out, so it's quite a delight to hear any word about smartphones that will have it at launch. Of course, the 3D Touch feature is also equally interesting to know about, as it clearly indicates that a slew of upcoming Android devices will support pressure-sensitive screens.

Whispers of the development come from the reliable Chinese website Weibo, and other manufacturers that are said to be working on handsets with pressure-sensitive displays include Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo and Vivo.

Just recently, Gionee released the S8, making it the first Android smartphone to have 3D Touch. However, it isn't capable of making the most out of the technology without Android N.

It's also worth mentioning that, when Apple introduced 3D Touch, it wasn't exactly a must-have. However, if this rumor holds true, then Android device makers may have found a potential to make it an eye-catching feature.

At any rate, plenty of signs indicate that 3D Touch is going to be the standard on Android devices soon enough.

Two Nexus devices are reportedly going to hit the shelves this year, which will mark the second time that it will happen. For the record, last year's LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P were the first to do so.
