Just like Microsoft’s Xbox-to-PC streaming, Sony’s PlayStation 4 can also stream games to few of Sony’s Xperia smartphones and tablets. However, with a small tweak and trick, you can stream your PlayStation 4 games to any Android device. Follow the steps accordingly in order to do it correctly.

Step 1 - Install The Remote Play App

Sony has a PS4 Remote Play App in Google Play, but its only works for Xperia devices. It can also work for other Android device by applying some tweaks and tricks. Sony make use of this method to push out their Xperai smartphones in the market.

Thanks to the XDA Developers Forum that makes it possible for the app to be compatible with other android devices. The remote play app has been modified to work on other android devices, not to check whether the device is rooted or not and not to refuse to work if the modified app connection is slow.

Make sure the "Unknown source" option is enabled in other to install the Remote Play App.

Step 2 - Connect Your PlayStation 4 Controller

Now to connect your controller to your android device through Bluetooth pairing, hold down the "Share" and "PlayStation" button on controller until the light bar starts flashing to put it in pairing mode.

Then Navigate to Bluetooth settings on your android device and select the controller Bluetooth.

You can also connect your android device to the PlayStation 4 controller via USB. This is only possible if you have the compatible cable. If you have the USB OTG cable adapter, you can use the standard USB cable that comes with the PlayStation 4 console and plug it directly into your android device.

It will work perfectly whether it is connected via wireless connection or wired connection. In order to confirm its working perfectly, connect both together and try to use the controller to select icons and navigate through your android device.

Buttons map or control buttons on some android device is not arranged accordingly or messy and wont work very well as expected. To solve this, download the SixAxis Controller App from the Google Play store and use it to correct the button mappings.

Step 3 Set Up Remote Play App

Launch Sony's "Remote Play App", go through the configuration process and follow the instructions provided. You can tap on "Next" to continue and skip the controller setup screen if you have already connect the controller over Bluetooth or USB connection.

You will need to sign in to your PlayStation Network (PSN) account. If your Android device is on the same Wi-FI Network as your PS4, it will find your PS4 and connect. If it cannot connect automatically, you will be directed to navigate to the Remote Play connection settings screen on your console. You will be provided with a PIN on your screen which will be used on your Android device to pair your PS4 and android device together.

You can then use the controller–or the touch screen–to launch PS4 games. Your PS4 will run them and stream them to your Android smartphone or tablet.
