What is Toxicology?


Toxicology is the study of the effects of toxic chemical substance on animal and plant.  A toxic substance can be defined as any chemical or mixture that may be harmful to the environment and to human health if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin.  Toxicity is the degree to which a substance can damage an organism. Chemical toxicants include inorganic substances such as, lead, mercury, hydrofluoric acid, and chlorine gas, and organic compounds such as methyl alcohol.
