How to Install Extensions on Microsoft Edge

Oyetoke Tobi - Monday, April 17, 2017

Microsoft Edge had finally supports extensions thanks to Windows 10’s Anniversary Update last year. While Microsoft Edge has supported extensions for some months now, the numbers of extensions created are increasing but still relatively limited in comparison to the competition. Nevertheless, there are several useful and handy extensions currently available. If you are geek Edge user, here’s how to install extensions on Microsoft Edge.

Edge extensions are available in the Windows Store.

To install extensions in Microsoft Edge, launch the Edge browser.

Then click the menu button at the top-right corner of the window, and select “Extensions.”

In case you can’t see an Extensions option there, that means you haven’t yet upgraded to Windows 10’s Anniversary Update. Read this article on how to upgrade to Windows 10’s Anniversary Update.

Once you clicked on “Extensions”, the Extension panel will appear, which will list all your installed extensions. Then click the “Get Extensions From the Store” link and the Windows Store will open, taking you to a special page that lists all the available Edge extensions.

So to download an extension, just click on the extension. Then click the “Free” button on the extension’s page in order to download it.

Then from there, Windows Store will download the extension to your computer and automatically install it in Edge. Also, they’ll be automatically downloaded and installed via the Windows Store when any updates are available.

Once you are through with that, head back to the Microsoft Edge. You’ll see a pop-up box asking if you want to enable the extension and the permissions it needs. So click on “Turn it On” to enable the extension.

That’s all. So from there, you can set up the extensions.
