How to Disable Quick Access on Windows 10 File Explorer

Don’t want the Quick Access feature on Windows 10? Here’s how to disable it.

With the Quick Access on Windows 10 File Explorer, you could easily navigate through your recently and frequently used folders. The Quick Access folder is located at the left-panel of Windows 10’s File Explorer. Almost all users love it and I did also, since it gives you a quick and efficient way to navigate Windows recent and most used folders and files.

However, there are couple dozen of reasons why you wouldn’t want people to see and access your most and recently used folders since it can be easily accessed from the quick access folder.

So if you want your recently your recently view folders to be seen by other, here’s how to get rid of it.

First thing to do is to open File Explorer. You can do that by right clicking on the Start menu and select File Explorer at the left corner.

Click the View tab.

Then click on “Options” at the right side and a window will pop up.

In the General tab, click on the dropdown menu next to “Open File Explorer to:” and select This PC.

Then below Privacy, uncheck the “Show recently used files in Quick Access” and “Show frequently used folders in Quick Access” checkboxes.

Then click on the button Apply at the bottom right of the Window to save the changes and click OK to close the Window.

To test it, close the File Explorer and reopen it. Then you'll notice that the Quick access folder won't open.
