How to Enable Automatic Downloads in tvOS 10 on Apple TV

Do you know that you can automatically download universal apps on your Apple TV? You can do that by enabling automatic download in Apple TV running on tvOS 10.

tvOS 10 allows you to enable Automatic Downloads on your Apple TV in order to download universal apps automatically on the big screen.

The tvOS 10 has the “Automatic Downloads” feature which is similar to the iOS and macOS. Once you have it enabled, app will be automatically downloaded on your Apple TV whenever you purchase any tvOS supported app on your iPhone or iPad.

The Auto-downloads feature on tvOS 10 is very handy because it lets you to download your favorite universal app on Apple TV easily. There are several apps like Netflix which most of us usually use on iPhone and iPad and hence using them on the big TV screen makes it more fun.

Here's how to enable it. 

Note: Ensure you are using the same iCloud account both on your iOS device and Apple TV.

How to Enable Automatic Downloads in tvOS 10

The Auto-Downloads feature is disabled in tvOS 10 by default.
So to do this, ensure you are using the same iCloud account both on your iOS device and Apple TV.

And in case you are using Family Sharing, sorry, Automatic Downloads won’t install your family members’ universal apps automatically on your Apple TV’s.

Launch the Settings on your Apple TV from the Home main menu.
Then click on the Apps section.

Ensure to set the Automatically Install Apps option to On. You can do that by clicking on it. 

So from there whenever you download any universal iOS app on your iPhone/iPad device, it will be downloaded automatically on your Apple TV also.

That’s it, extremely simple.

How to Disable Automatic Downloads in tvOS 10

In case you don’t want apps to be downloaded automatically on your Apple TV, you can easily disable this feature by using the same step described above.

So open the Settings menu and then click on Apps section.

Then set the Automatically Install Apps option to Off. So click on it and select Off.

That’s it!
