How to Access Function Keys on MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

Do you have the new MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar? Do you know that you can use functions keys with touch bar on your MacBook Pro? 

From the time when Touch Bar has been added as a special feature of the new MacBook Pro 2016. Of it has received huge number of praises and criticism. Some people appreciate the Touch Bar feature, while some have criticized it for removing the handy Function Keys from the keyboard.

In case you want to use the function keys more in any app on your new MacBook, there is a way you can use to make Touch Bar display function keys as a default setting.

However, you can’t just customize it flawlessly as you want, but you can also quickly access function keys on the new MacBook Pro with it. You also have the option in order to make Touch Bar display the functions keys as default in some specific apps. 

So here’s how to do that

Accessing the Function Keys on MacBook Pro

The first thing to do is to know how to access the functions keys. Although accessing function keys is very easy, you will still need to get used to it when doing something quickly.

So to access the function keys temporarily, all you have to do is to just press the “fn” key located at the bottom leftmost key on the keyboard.

Then tap on F1 – F12 as you wish.

Making the Function Keys the Default Touch Bar Display 

The next one is to make the function keys as the default touch bar display.

Now click on the Apple menu logo at the upper left corner of the screen.

Then click on System Preferences.

Then select on Keyboard.

Now click on the Shortcuts tab.

Now select the Function Keys from the sidebar.

Now click on the Add (+) button. The next thing now is to choose an app which you want to display the function keys as a default options on the Touch Bar.

Lastly click on Add.

So from there whenever you open this particular app, it will display function keys as a default option on Touch Bar.
