How to Make Siri Use Google or Yahoo as Its Search Engine

Oyetoke Tobi - Thursday, July 14, 2016

By default, Sir use Bing as the default search engine and therefore, Siri will always bring and show the results from Bing of whatever search phrase or term you ask Siri. So as an internet guru, if you would like to use your favourite search engine instead of Bing.

Well more than 70% internet users makes use of Google and Yahoo for getting information.

However, Apple has a lot of dedication and commitment for making Bing as Siri’s default search engine and Apple doesn’t provide any settings from the Settings app to select any other search engine aside from Bing. Even if, Apple doesn't allow you to use other search engine as default search, you can always ask Siri to search your search query in your favourite search engine, i.e. Google or Yahoo!.

So make sure have Hey Siri Hands-free mode enabled on your iOS device.

If you have Hey Siri enable, then you don’t need to press and hold Home button on your iPhone each time you want to use Siri.

Then Siri will use your search request to search from Google and display the search result.

Siri for Yahoo!

Press the Home button to open Siri or better still say "Hey Siri".

So when Siri appears on the screen all you need to say is Search Yahoo for "search phrase/query".

But note that while searching from Google and Yahoo!, Siri will take you to Safari browser page, which is the default browser for iOS while will Siri keep the search result within while searching from Bing.
